I am not sure if sky people are in need of a sky experiences thread, but i would really like to share my today’s experience.

Unfortunately i play sky very rarely, because it's multilayer doesn't really fit me and sometimes makes me too anxious to handle. jUhh

But today was the day! I updated sky and jumped in! It was nice to see the changes that they made in the dawn level! In the aviary i met some nice people who were playing music and listening to each other, and it was great!
On this playthrough i decided to myself that i will not take anyone's candles and will just follow nice people as a nameless tail jHappy

but my plans failed after this nice group of people invited me to take their candles enough times, haha. The person who's invitation i couldn't resist was a really attentive.. (child?.. companion?.. cape-person?.. i dont know how to call sky people properly, i am sorry ^^") who was wearing the god of war hairdo.
These sky children took me along on a very nice.. sky-journey! Chirping with each other, playing piano in quiet places, dancing, and though i was a new person in their group, the careful sky child with god of war hairdo was always making sure i was included, was always suggesting me to take their hand and was chirping with me, which was making me happy jHappy

In the rest stop people in the group obviously led me to the bench and it was scary, but after some hesitation i sit on it. And there i was told that the attentive companion was in fact nagati! it was such an awesome discovery, what are the odds! ^O^ Another friend from the group was called velee

In the patrol fields nagati was leading, and it was some spectacular show to witness! We were targeted by krills around 6 times, and nagati was dodging the attacks seemingly easy, it was very emotional! :D Nagati also knew the map so well, and seemed to know patrol patterns too, i was impressed! jSurprise

As we went on, more and more people from the group were leaving, and by the middle of the tower level we were alone. I felt like we were near the end. And indeed, after the tower we exchanged warm good byes, and here our journey ended

I am very glad i met this friendly group of sky children today, this journey was delightful! Special thanks to attentive and lovely nagati! jNice

Ava, it was so awesome to find out that it was you who had been traveling with us! I didn't realize you don't play Sky that much--what were the odds, indeed! I'm also glad that you didn't get too annoyed when we tried to keep giving you candles jHappy

That was the most Journey-like run I've had in a long time, and it was great to have you in the group and teach us (or at least me) a new way to play. Three of us playing harp on top of the temple has become one of my favorite moments in Sky. Thank you for coming with us! rainbow_heart

Also, for the record, Ava is very kindly leaving out the part where I accidentally got him krilled. That first krill in the upper swamp can apparently go outside the room and around corners when it decides to attack you. >_>

Okay. I have access to an iPad now and therefore can play Sky. I have a sort of Dickens "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" reaction to it, or rather it is so much more than Journey, it is so much less than Journey. I'm still pretty much lost in the game, though not as lost as I was days ago, so it should go without saying that my impression of Sky is changing by the day. Okay, first the so much more. Journey was in many ways a *very* closed universe, and standard play made it a slightly small (but beautiful) universe. Regular exploration expanded that universe, and acess to the out of bounds expanded it much much more. So Journey became big, but still closed. Journey's openness was a player's skill. Skill in flying, skill in walking the line. Sky feels open in that it is a big enough closed system that uncertainty doesn't really leave me. And I have an initial feeling that that feeling will stay since I'm thinking that TGC will periodically introduce new spaces. Admittedly I may be totally wrong here, but that's the feeling I have at the moment. *And* my reaction to that is that I am excited and fearful. Hopefully I'll get back to talking more about that reaction. Just need to say some otber things first. But even before that, I want to echo what many have already said, Sky is beautiful. However, saying what others have not, I *expected* it to be beautiful, if it was not beautiful, then it really wasn't TGC that created it. That in a nutshell is TGC's problem, Journey is a tough act to follow.

Now a bit about the so much less. Although there are many more nice, i.e. "so much more", aspects to sky, so far they are not paradigm changing for me. That may change, I'm still new to the game. The first less that keeps hitting me over and over is the tablet controls, that is in contrast to the Shock Controller controls. They are okay for simple things, but they aren't built for speed, or at least my speeding. For some reason I frequently (at least when the action speeds up) get into the situation where the tablet is not responding to my *intended* finger gestures. Sometimes not at all. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe. Am I frustrated? Definitely. With the Shock Controller I had much more of a feeling of where the separation of responsibilities lay. With the tablet, not so much. Next thing. The world seems much bigger than Journey. That's a good thing, right? Depends upon when a person starts feeling totally lost. I've decided when I start feeling that way that I just stop playing for the day. Once it stops being fun, then tautologically it's not fun anymore. Isn't that the whole point about these things? (Running out of juice on my tablet so I may have to close this post out and come back to it later.) In any case some sort of support needs to be there. TGC may have been thinking "friends"; it ain't coming together that way for me....at least at the moment. I keep losing the friends I pick up, or more to the point, who pick me up. I seem to be a real klutz at this friend thing. On last thing before I close out and get my tablet hooked up to some juice, I am totally stymied by the Valley of Triumph, which I have now rechristened as the Trail of Tears. (Not to belittle what happened to the native Americans in that tragedy. They were royally screwed.) Anyway, just can't get past it. Not quite yet at the point of giving up, however it is a so much less kind of thing for the game. So still enjoying the game, not quite the love affair that was Journey, but hey it has a lot of potential there. It still feels like there are a few rough spots....for me at least.
